The Pocket Watch
As he did every morning, the old watchmaker unlocked his shop and stood by the door, watching the quiet street wake up. A few moments later, a young boy walked in carrying an old pocket watch. Holding it out with both hands, he asked, "Excuse me, sir... could you repair this?" The watchmaker smiled and carefully took it from him. He turned it over a few times before opening the back cover. Inside, written in letters so tiny they were almost impossible to read, was a single sentence. Don't repair this.
Uncharted
He opened his eyes to the sound of waves. Warm sand clung to his skin. As he sat up, all he could see was an empty beach stretching endlessly in both directions. There wasn't another person in sight, not even a boat on the horizon. His clothes were torn and stiff with salt. He checked his pockets, but they were empty. A wave of panic washed over him. He tried to say his own name, but not a single word came to mind. He couldn't remember who he was or how he had ended up there. Just as he got to his feet, he noticed something faint written on the inside of his left forearm.
